Sanford Stadium is the home of the University of Georgia Bulldog Football team in Athens, Georgia. Sanford Stadium seats 92,746 and the stadium is the fifth largest college venue in the NCAA. Games played at Sanford Stadium are described as being played "Between the Hedges" because a row of hedges have marked the field since its opening day in 1929. Except during the Olympics and Olympic soccer games played there in 1996.
Sanford stadium's namesake Dr. Steadman Vincent Sanford, an English professor arrived at the University of Georgia in 1903.
