BING FLASH SEO

Bing Webmaster Central recently confirmed how BING handles textual content in Silverlight and Flash. According to Bing, when it comes to Silverlight and Flash, the key is to use “visual content in moderation (and never at the expense of textual content).” Bing strongly suggests not using text content inside Flash or Silverlight, since many times it’s invisible to search engines. According to Bing, data extraction technology as a primary method for indexation is pure “folly” and too big a gamble to take.

On a side note, we’ll be discussing various topics related to “Images & Search Engines” at SES San Jose in a few weeks.

Google Real-Estate

Google is at least testing a move into the online real-estate market with their latest addition to Google Maps. The new Google “Real estate” tool connects real-estate buyers with sellers all via Google Maps. According to The Wall Street Journal and the The Age, this feature is “poised” for roll out in the US but, appears to already be live.

If you’re a real estate agent or broker and would like to be included see Google’s FAQ for Real Estate Agents and Brokers.

Like Google, Google Wave uses advanced operators for it’s search functionality. Wave allows users options to search with advanced operators by Keyword, Status, Participant, Date, Folder, Attachment, Tag, Gadget, Expression, Phrase, XML, Wave ID, Inbox, Saved Searches, Filters and more. Earlier today, a “quick guide to the operators and restricts supported by wave search” was added to Google Wave user accounts.

Google IO 2009

I’m at Google I/O ( IO2009 ) this week checking out sessions, taking photos and Twazzuping thanks to App Engine via Twitter. Assuming all goes well, (AT&T 3g network is available) I’ll also be submitting articles a few other places. Really looking forward to a great week here in SFO. Be sure to say hello if you’re one of the 4,500 estimated attendees….

SearchWiki Notes

Google SearchWiki includes a Notes feature or perhaps an experimental feature. Google SearchWiki Notes is a function in Google’s main SERPs that allows users the option to copy and paste links to search results directly into im or email.
